Priserna på Caprice-modellerna steg med 700-800$ jämfört med 1985 års modeller. Fyrstegautomaten fanns som tillval på standardmotorn, V6:an på 262ci. V8 Diesel-motorn försvann (förutom i Kalifornien) och V8:an på 305ci (5,0 liter) förblev standardmotor på herrgårdsvagnen.
En ny drivrem för generatorn, Poly V, introducerades. Kontrollerna för förnsterhissar och förarstol flyttades från dörrsidan upp till armstödet.
Brougham LS Sedan var en dyrare variant av Brougham. Brougham-modellen hade bl.a. vinyltak, tygklädsel med extra mjuka säten med armstöd i mitten, nya dörrljus och kartlampor.
Chevrolets Caprice och Pontiac's Parisenne (samma modell) var de sista kvarvarande stora familjebilarna med bakhjulsdrift i GM-familjen. De hotades alltmer av utrotning men hade fortfarande en trogen skara köpare.
